You can fill you glygogen stores with a lot of things more beneficial than white bread. If I were you I'd stick to WW. Personally, I do a lot of sports drinks + Carbo Pro and Spiz for carbo loading. I'd avoid the refined crap as much as possible. My 2 cents.

White bread is simply whole wheat that has been stripped of almost all of it's nutritional benefits. Food companies do this so that they can present what they feel is a more appealing product (it may have something to do with increasing shelf life as well). Subsequently, vitamins/minerals are added in an attempt to give the white bread some nutritional value, aside from providing calories.
In the end, one might say: "why fix it when it ain't broke"?
