Shimano DA 10 or Campy Centaur 10

I need some help. I am looking into a new Cervelo Soloist, the 05 is offered with Campy Centaur 10 and DA 10. Besides the obvious price differences, does anyone have any operational experience or insight with regards to performance and durability differences of the two groupos?

Thanks
RS

I'm sure some people would disagree, but at that level, I think it comes down to personal preference. I dare anyone to produce data that campys cranks are "X" more durable, etc.

I would look at weight difference - campy often comes out ahead, but only very slightly.

It's similar to the Apple vs Windows debate - there are passionate people of either side of the fence.

feel it out

All I can say is that you need too feel it out. I prefer shimano myself, but that is only my opinion, and it really comes down to what your used too.
I don't like the thumb shifting on the campy's.
As far as performance, you could be running Ultegra and I don't think it would really affect you that much.
I'm from the school of thought that I can spend the extra money on a nutrisionalist or trainer that would give me more benefit in the end.
Don't get me wrong, there are improvements when you jump up a level, but they are pretty minor unless you are a seasoned pro.
At my shop we don't recomend people jumping up to DA unless they are elite athelete (or rich) Most of the people I know that have a DA groupo have some sort of pro deal.(or work at a shop)
anyways, my 2 cents
Try em out. Talk to the shops and take them for a spin.
As far as campy cranks being more durable, we have had to send 2 back for warranty, and not a single one of the Dura Ace
Good Luck :D

ride a bike w/each

I have the DA 10 group and am happy with it, however my wife has the Ultegra components and I think it is better shifting than mine. Yes, both bikes are shop tuned and the groups are 04'. I had to have the latest and greatest but in retrospect..... . Quality shops will let you ride each. Good luck on your choice.
