Sore hip (left)

Starting back in August, someone noticed that when I get up from sitting, that I was limping. I felt like it was because I was sitting so long with my legs crossed. This was durring Sunday School and ofcourse that morning I complete one of my long runs for the week and I started to put one and one together as time went on.

Now there is pain when I run and pain with I sit to long or play basketball on a concrete floor. So I was reading in Runner's World and got intersted to see what was happening and causing this to hurt (figured it was just arthritis before), but I have no range of motion problems, just stiffness and some pain when standing up after sitting. Lately when I push my clutch for a while, like at a light, it starts to hurt too....

Anyways, I go see a Sport Medicine doctor next week to make sure it is nothen to bad, but I am thinking/hoping it is just a small stress fracture and he will say no running or basketball for 6-8 weeks! Anyone else out there have this problem before and am I close on guessing what it is.

If I do not run for a week or so it does feel better and I have not run for 1.5 weeks now, but I have played a good amount of basketball on the concrete surface.

Greetings jwier92,

I have had much of the same symptoms in the past. I found relief by swimming and streching. Several years ago I was diagnosed with herniated discs at L4 & L5. I was also experiencing numbness in my legs. I started a therapy of streching, walking and swimming. You mentioned playing basketball...a sport with a lot of opportunity for injury to joints and muscle stress. If you can take a break from running and basketball, focus your energy on swimming. If you can get some good bike time in without pain, I'd expect you would benifit overall by the time your 100%. ( Doctor's can sometimes hinder your self confidence), I hope that you see a Doc with an Athletes perspective. Best of luck~

IT Band Syndrome. Tight IT Band. Fix... Physical Theropy for 4 weeks.

I am glad! I am clear to do what ever does not cause pain (I include running in that, because it pains me to not run)
