I use the powerful Polar s625x. That is the greatest heart rate monitor I have ever seen. It gives speed and distance in running, which is very helpful for training (especially for outdoor workout). It is very expensive (400 € in Europe, 350 $ in US) but I think it is a good investment for a regular practice especially for triathlon since it can be used for all the three sports.

In race, you have just to push a button to switch from one sport to the next one. At the end you have one file per sport that you can analyse with the Polar software and also calculate the transition times (by substraction). Very very nice HRM.
