Sport Drink Question

I am considering moving away from Gatorade to another sport drink.
I'm thinking of going to something that might have more minerals or
some protein. I do IM distance events.

I'd like to hear other's experiences with other products, to get
passed te marketing BS. I'm not looking for "the best", I figure te
best is dependent on the individual.

TIA,

Mark

I'm curious about this too......although I don't quite understand the point
of training with a specialized nutrition product when you know they're only
going to have Gatorade on the course, esp on the run when you can't carry a
lot of stuff with you?

Re: Sport Drink Question

Protein during exercise is probably not all that important--at least at the
distances you are talking about.

Minerals, same thing.

Sodium and to a lesser degree potassium (electolytes) are a good thing.

Gatorade has a new product on the market (albeit not in all areas) that is
aimed more at "performance" athletes. It has more sodium and is better
formulated for exercise.

I've seen this. However, I've hesitated to use it in training until they
start providing it at aid stations.

Normally I would agree, but if you drink "classic" Gatorade during some
training and know how it treats you, then using the new Gatorade to me would
not be a problem. However, I would not run a race featuring the new product
without trying it first. Anyway, during a race chances are that whatever is
served will be diluted greatly.

What would you think of a patch, that is worn like a band-aid, that is not an aroma patch, not a magnet, not transdermal – so nothing enters the body, but when placed on different acupuncture point, instantly gives you more strength, stamina and energy?

This patch was considered the “Performance Enhancer of the Month” by Esquire Magazine, last November.

Again, nothing enters the body; which is why the USADA has deemed these patches not in violation of their regulations. In fact these patches were worn at the last Olympic trials. Learn more about this technology [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].
