Mad Beach Tri Report

Half mile swim, fifteen mile bike, and 5k run, located in West Coast Florida.
Beatiful day. The swim was a little shallow, lots of people hugging the shore and doing the dive and walk routine, no big deal. I swam the entire distance, no wetsuits, warm gulf water. I was looking for something closer to 15 minutes, must work on my TI swimming more. The bike was flat with two small bridges to cross. A little wind made it interesting, didn't use aero bars, like the comfort of my drops until I find some bars that feel good. The wind was at our backs for some portions of the race, had my 16 pound bike around 25+mph at times, good for this old man. Ended up with a 21+mph bike average, a personal best for 15 miles. The last half of the run is on the beach, with the last 100yds in soft deep sand, it made sprinting in a challenge. Beat my time from last year by 10 minutes. Recommend this envent for anyone in the area or visiting. Friendly, lots of food, free beer, prizes, awards, etc. Best part was staying the weekend in a near by Hotel, even though I live an hour away, with my wife and kids and them cheering me on at the event. Later. woohoo

The best part of the Tri experience is sharing it with your loved ones! Congrats on the PB.
