Hello :)

Hi, I am new to the forums (and to triathlons...lol), but I am doing a mini on April 6th (.5 mile swim, 15 mile bike, and 3 mile run). The run after biking is tough! But I have been doing most of my training in those two events because I am a pretty good swimmer. At this point I am debating in where I am going to start my swim...it'll be my first tri, but I am a decent swimmer and don't want to be swimming through a bunch of people.

Anyway! I have been reading through the forums and picking up lots of helpful hints. My husband told me (since I have been obsessed with the whole tri thing) "Wow. I've noticed when you do something, you don't do it half assed!" I am already thinking of the 70.3...lol. Guess I need to get through the mini first. ;)

Welcome on Michelle. Congrats on signing up for your first event. Good luck. Since this will be your first race, I'd recommend a little discretion in your choice of placement. If you start near the outside, you may be better off. If you turn out to be faster, you won't be swimming over as many people. If slower, you won't get crawled over. There is certain to be contact so be prepared but don't get too excited; the crowd thins out quickly. Have fun!

That's what I was thinking. I will probably go outside more as to not be trampled (or trample...lol) as much. I played water polo in high school so contact is no biggie! Those water polo girls are nuts ;)

I've changed my diet big time to fit in all the good stuff I need for my workouts, I feel like I am eating all day! I am eating 5-6 small meals throughout the day...

Hi Michelle and Scott!

I just registered in this website.
A quick recap of my tri back ground... started last year and did 5 sprints and 1 olympic. Been training hard during the winter, especially running, also been doing some swimming and lots of spinning.
I am training for my first HIM which will be on June 15, in Lawrence, Kansas.
Excited to meet other triathletes!

Thanks Scott! Yes, I am very much into the sport. Just like many others, the moment I crossed the finish line when I raced my 1st sprint I was like: "Ok, when is the next one?"
I am getting a tri bike... and been getting some gear little by little.
Thanks again for the sport. I'd like to become an activer participant in this forums.

good stuff!

Entering a race is exciting. There is that little rush of fear! It is such a motivating factor. That is why I like entering my important races over the winter, for inspiration. Entering my first Ironman provided me with enough fear to last a full year!
