| Something about the blood not settling... I am in my late-thirties... and I stretch a good 5 minutes or more before and after workouts.
Years ago I took Eric Haar's (Triathlon Training in Four Hours a Week and The Portable Personal Trainer) advice and in addition to stretching after intense runs and bikes, I like to finish my stretching by lying on my back, putting my feet up on a pilates ball, and for several minutes listen to something soothing on the iPod. Something about the blood not settling and working out all the impurities. Nonetheless, it is very relaxing.
