GU20 carb drink

I just picked up some sample packets of GU20. I've been using cytomax for years, but I thought I'd give this a try.

It's a maltodextrin-based power with low simple sugar. Here is the label:

I'll will prob mix it stronger, since I like more calories. I'll try it this weekend and post my thoughts...

Tried the GU today - had a bad ride, not because of it, but because of 2 flats due to all of the junk on the roads.

Tastes like fruitier gatoraid...good taste, not too syrupy. Hard to tell performance effects since my ride was fairly short... no stomach problems, I think I'll keep trying it.

Used the Gu20 last season and liked it because it wasn't as sweet as Gatorade. I found it to be okay on the bike, but had lots of sloshing around in my stomach on the run. No sloshing with the Gatorade.

That seems to make sense... Gatorade is mostly simple sugar which gets into your system quickly. Gu20 is maltodextrine which takes longer for your gut to break down, but should provide longer energy stores for you...

So I'd be better off using it for the longer events....way before the run and stick to the gatorade on the run?
