Ironman cut off times

I just got done doing the Madison loop twice for about 85 miles last week in 5 hours 50 mins. It was real hilly and will be tough this fall on my first Ironman. Based on this practice ride I should be able to do the ride in about 7 1/2 - 8 hours. What are the cut off times in the Ironman? I think the swim is 2 hours 20 mins and the swim/bike is 10 hours 30 mins. Is this correct? I am not a fast swimmer ( maybe 1 hour 40 mins for 2.4) and I am checking.

They do have cut-off times, but I don't know what they are for this course but what you have sounds about right from other races. The overall cut off time is 17 hours. You just need to work hard on your swim and bike to come in before that cut off. It that's the case, you'll have plenty of time for the run. Just be glad you don't have a 16 hour Ironman cut off time like IM Switzerland has.

They will have the cut-off times in your race packet. I wouldn't worry about this right now, you need to focus on your training. Deal with this on race day.

Good Luck!

You'll be fine. It's hard to hit those cutoffs. As Nick suggests, just train and the race will come to you. Don't forget a nutrition & hydration plan. Most DNFs I've spoken too say the problem wasn't with the times, it was the fact they bonked and couldn't continue at a pace they'd done for months in training. Practice nutrition early and often. Good luck!
