Rep Power: | Ho hum... I've chatted about goals with a lot of you and am good at setting them myself but I'm hitting a little bit of a wall and need a kick. I have a C, B & A race lined up and I'm coasting.
This weekend is a relative fast, easy Sprint. I haven't biked in two weeks nor swam in 3. Last week was a heavy run week with 72 miles so I feel OK fitness wise but I need some motivational help with my 70.3 race prep in May and for IM Kentucky in Aug.
Give me some tough love Triweekers!
BTW... Have committed to: IM Lanzorate, The Ironhorse 100 mile ultra-marathon and the Disney Double (13.1 Sat & 26.2 Sun) in 2008. If I'm not dead & if my wife lets me borrow my cohones, I’d like to do an ultra-Ironman in Australia in 2009. Any takers? :)

Where is your 70.3?
I'm signed up for a tri (sprint or Intl.) every month through October, then the Escape to Miami in October and a half iron in November. I just wish I had more people to train with! |

Rep Power: | My half iron is the Miami Man which runs through the Miami Zoo down here, but its not until November. I have plenty of Intl distance races up to that point.
I am still playing with the idea of signing up for the Great Floridian half iron in Clermont, but that race is 3 weeks before the half iron down here. I'm not sure how much recovery you need between those distances. Any thoughts?
I can't travel to any races during the months of May, June and July as those are the busiest months in the boating business. I've been looking for a race in August or September, but haven't found anything I can attend to this point.

Rep Power: | Hmmm. Ultra? I think I will conquer the short Ironman distance first, but 2009 does fit the time-line for an ultra, and there is a chance I will be in NZ at that time. What month does that Ultra fall in?
Just curious.
I think I have a problem. When people suggest things, I allways want to go and do them. I might be doing an Enduro MTB ride tomorrow for the same reason. 50km on a mtb, how hard can it be!
Did I mention there is still some snow on the trails as well!

That is heat even you aren't use to. I'll definitely do the Stonebridge Triathlon in McKinney, TX again. Maybe I'll come down and do the half in St. Croix in a few years. Do we get a personal tour and lobster diving expedition thrown in with the race entry?

Rep Power: | Absolutely Chappy! I added another batch of Lobster to my freezer last night. There's plenty to celebrate about. Life's good.
An update on Sundays race... Kicked my butt! Strong swimmers had the advantage with relatively calm water, a short, flat bike and a flat run. Swim 14/33, Bike 3/33 at 20+mph, Run 11/33 at 7:37 min/mile, Overall 9/33. I gave up 3 minutes over last years event due to -0- swim training in the last 60 days. Those three minutes would have put me up at #4. Guess what I'm doing every day for lunch the rest of this month!

Rep Power: | I feel like a baby compared to the animals here. I love the sport and think that is the biggest motivator for me. Going into my third year, I have 2 Int and 1 half planed (only if I can complete my first race in less than 3 hours). This year I plan on wearing shoes for the run events :)
Other wise, I will eat your alls dust, but at least I am Tri-ing
Good luck all. |

Definately do the GFT. You'll be happy you did. I've done the Full GFT the last two years and can tell you it's a classy event. Fred Sommers does a great job. Let me know if you'd like course tips.
As for race planning... take week one and recover from Miami Man, week two as a normal workout week and week three as a taper week. You'll be fine and shouldn't see any effects from race to race.
