Alcatraz - Triathlon Week

I have been picked in the lottery for Alcatraz and I am looking for advise from someone with a workout schedule for the swim. I am a pretty strong swimmer, but I have not trained for a swim this grueling. I have seen a few swim workouts on here before, but I was wondering if anyone had one for this type of swim.

Also, any other advise would be appreciated. I have only done one other tri and it was a sprint.

Never done Alcatraz but understand it's brutal. I remember hearing about two swimmers having to be rescued on a training swim last year. Good luck!

A good friend of mione did Alcatraz this year. He said the swim was tough, but not as bad as he thought it would be. It is all in the wet suit. With the proper wet suit, you have lots of bouyancy and insulation. All you have to do is keep your arms and legs moving. Getting up the steps on the beach is another matter.
Look at the new QR wet suits. I have heard good things about them.

If I didn't hate to fly, that would be on my list for this year.
